GetMeCare ONTARIO Inc. ("GetMeCare ONTARIO", "we", "us") is committed to protecting the personal information of everyone who uses our platform. This Privacy Policy applies to all services offered through getmecare.ca and our related applications.
We comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Ontario's privacy standards.
Data We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to operate a safe, compliant care marketplace. This includes:
- Identity data: Full name, date of birth, government-issued ID (caregivers)
- Contact data: Email address, phone number, home city/postal code
- Professional data: PSW certificate, VSC document, work history (caregivers)
- Care request data: Care needs, schedule preferences, hourly rate budget (employers)
- Financial data: Payment method tokens processed via our secure payment provider
- Usage data: Login times, page views, shift clock-in/clock-out logs
- Communications: Messages sent through the Platform's admin-mediated chat
How We Use Your Data
We use your data solely to provide and improve the GetMeCare ONTARIO platform. Specifically:
- To verify caregiver credentials and compliance status
- To match families with suitable caregivers based on care needs
- To process shift schedules, timesheets, and payments
- To send transactional communications (booking confirmations, payment receipts)
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or policy violations
- To improve platform functionality through anonymized usage analytics
We will never sell your personal information to third parties or use it for unrelated marketing without your explicit consent.
Data Sharing
GetMeCare ONTARIO does not sell personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Between matched parties: Limited profile information is shared between an employer and their matched caregiver once admin confirms the match
- Payment processors: Tokenized payment data with our PCI-DSS compliant processor
- Legal obligation: When required by law, court order, or regulatory authority in Canada
- Platform providers: Hosting and infrastructure providers operating under strict data processing agreements
Storage & Security
All data is stored on encrypted servers in the Canada Central (Montréal) region. We implement the following security measures:
- AES-256 encryption for data at rest
- TLS 1.3 encryption for all data in transit
- Role-based access control — staff see only the data necessary for their function
- Regular third-party security audits and penetration testing
- Automatic session expiry and two-factor authentication for admin accounts
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and for up to 7 years after account closure to comply with Canadian tax and legal obligations.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to maintain your session and preferences, and analytics cookies to understand how the platform is used. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
- Session cookies: Required for login and platform functionality
- Preference cookies: Remember your language and display settings
- Analytics cookies: Anonymized usage data to improve the Platform
You can disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings at any time without affecting core Platform functionality.
Your Rights Under PIPEDA
As a Canadian resident, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements
- Withdrawal of consent: Withdraw consent for non-essential data processing at any time
- Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Complaint: Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

Children's Privacy
The GetMeCare ONTARIO Platform is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, we will delete it immediately.
Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
